I was interested to see what we could do with a new (to us) Chinese frame factory, rather than our usual Taiwanese one. Chinese aluminium frames are a lot cheaper. Less than half the price in some cases.
So it was with some trepidation we stuck them on the alignment table at our favourite Taiwanese frame builders to check alignment.
Things weren’t good.
If that’s as good as samples come, we’d not really like to think what production would have looked like.

to a luddite like me, how is it possible to make a mis-aligned frame when all the pipes are held in a jig when welded? surely the jig is bang on?

Most of that has probably gone wrong in heat treating.

I guess this means every Steel frame for sale right now has been on that very table and passed 100%?
