The bikes of the Transalp, all new, all black, all carbon? No way, the 1200 bikes that were ridden for a week across the Alps are as varied as their riders are. Out of the Peleton, we took nine bikes that stood out. Their owners told us why they specifically chose for their beloved bikes to take a part in this big match.
Pink Lady – Small bikes for small women
After ten years of riding a black bike, Susi Eger from the Team Mumuku Girls wanted something more colorful. But she (40yrs old, working in Sales) wanted to keep her 26″ wheels, to keep the bike looking smack, and to have safe and agile steering. In 2010 she bought a 50cm Stealth frame from PX, as 26″ frames seem to be almost extinct in Germany. To complete the build, she added a whole collection of parts, some up to ten years old. “It works”, she says with a smile on her face. A 12-32 gear was put on to make it suited for the Transalp.
