• First draft 2011 Ragley words – crowd sourced proofing :-)

    Troof 2011
New super-hardcore alloy hardball for 2011. Downhill slack and taking 160mm forks, but trail ready and with a seating position that lets you get back to the top. Launched in 2009 to acclaim and rave reviews, Ragley have not rested in their quest to make the best hardball frames on the market. Revised and overhauled for 2011, featuring new manufacturing techniques, new features but the same inspiring slack head angle, steep seat angle geometry, these are the ultimate hardtail trail bike frames.

    Tubeset:
We use high strength 7046 alloy which is typically used in weight saving XC frames – we just use a bit more of it, to make a frame that’s ridiculous strong, but not heavy. Alloy frame alloy different tubing configurations, so we added a dropped top tube with seat tube brace, and true 1.5in headset. Direct and solid, this is a stunningly precise trail weapon befitting of big tyres and a long fork.

    Geometry:
Designed to have a slack 67deg head angle at ride height, coupled with a long top tube, these frames are designed to run a short stem (between 40 and 60mm) to give fine control but amazing stability, with the handling that will work at high and low speeds, through rock gardens and drops. A seat angle that puts the rider central on the bike, whatever their size, and a chainstay length that balances tyre clearance, traction and hill climbing ability. Oh, and if you measure the other way – using “static” settings, that head angle sits at 64.9deg.

    Frame Details:
    • DMR licenced “SWOPOUT DROPOUTS” allow you to run QR (standard) or fit MAXLE specific rear dropouts for the ultimate rear wheel security.
    • “Three Finger” chainstay bridge is exclusive to Ragley, and improved for this year, being made from a CNC piece. Allows massive tyre clearance so you can fit 2.5in rubber with massive chainring and tyre clearance which is happy with 36t middle rings, resilience to any attempted chainsuck/derailment. Bridgeless design gives better mud clearance.
    • Bridgeless seatstays give awesome ride and huge mud clearance.
    • Chainstay mounted disc brake calliper means lighter gauge seatstays can be used to promote sublime ride quality, give a stiffer mounting for the rear brake, and a neater mounting location.
    • Rear slotted seat tube provides proven extra durability over extended front slotted models.
    • Bolt on cable guides give multiple options for cable routing and replaceability.
    • Custom sticker kit lets your personalise your frame your way.
    • Two choices of colour
    • ISCG tabs added for 2011.
    • Powdercoated (not cheaper, weaker “wet paint”) for durability.

    Frame Specs:
    • Front Derailleur: 34.9mm Top Pull
    • Seat Post: 30.9mm
    • Seat Collar: 34.9mm
    • ChainLine: 50mm
    • BB Shell 73mm
    • 1.5in standard
    • Rear disc size up to 203mm
    • Fork length 150-170mm optimised.

    BAGGER 288 2011
New super-hardcore massive steel leviathan for 2011.

    Tubeset:
Tooling up for your own tubing isn’t easy or cheap. But in order to push what was possible, it’s what we did. Using worlds first internally and xternally butted chromoly steel main tubes, Ragley have added strength and stiffness to the main frame, and reduced weight at the same time. Gussetless FATHEAD tubing keeps the frame tracking straight and true. Then we mandrel bend and form it to offer a lower standover height and new head tube junction for extra clearance and fatigue strength.

With the advent of taper steerer forks, and the popularity of 1.5in forks for hardcore riders, steel frames were getting left behind. No more – with Ragley’s adoption of the 44mm headset standard, allowing use of headsets from Cane Creek, Nukeproof and others to get those modern forks fitting on steel hardballs. With the right headset, this frame can take a 1.125in, tapered or 1.5in fork.
We recommend Nukeproof headset models – 44IESS (standard), 44IETS (tapered) or 44EEOS (1.5in steerer).

The seat tube gets another custom butted tube allowing 30.9mm post – so it’s compatible with the “dropper” models that are out there.

    BLUE PIG X STANDARD 2011
Launched in 2009 to acclaim and rave reviews, Ragley have not rested in their quest to make the best hardball frames on the market. Revised and overhauled for 2011, featuring new manufacturing techniques, new features but the same inspiring slack head angle, steep seat angle geometry, these are the ultimate hardtail trail bike frames.

    Tubeset:
We wanted the best, so we went to the best. True Temper OX Platinum is the only high end frame tubing that can be made in the sizes we wanted for the Blue Pig X. A true mountainbike tubeset, and not just an oversized road bike tube, we used our Fathead technology creating the worlds first internally and externally butted thermophillic steel main tubes. Getting stronger when welded thanks to True Tempers proprietary steel, Ragley have added strength and stiffness to the main frame, and reduced weight at the same time. Gussetless FATHEAD tubing keeps the frame tracking straight and true, and saves 1/3rd of a pound over our standard Blue Pig model.

    PIGLET 2011
Launched in 2009 to acclaim and rave reviews, Ragley have not rested in their quest to make the best hardball frames on the market. The Piglet is a more “normal” trail friendly frame, featuring new manufacturing techniques, new features but designed for a shorter 120mm fork, and a little steeper head angle, steep seat angle geometry, giving a fast trail frame for people who like going up and along, as much as they like going down.

    Tubeset:
Tooling up for your own tubing isn’t easy or cheap. But in order to push what was possible, it’s what we did. Using worlds first internally and externally butted chromoly steel main tubes, Ragley have added strength and stiffness to the main frame, and reduced weight at the same time. No scary weird headset standards. The Piglet features a standard 1.125in headset allowing easy upgrading from your standard frame. However our seat tube gets another custom butted tube allowing 30.9mm post – so it’s compatible with the “dropper” models that are out there.

    Geometry:
Designed to have a 68.5deg head angle at ride height, coupled with a long top tube, these frames are designed to run a short stem (between 50 and 80mm) to give fine control but amazing stability, with the handling that will work at high and low speeds, through rock gardens and drops. A seat angle that puts the rider central on the bike, whatever their size, and a chainstay length that balances tyre clearance, traction and hill climbing ability. Oh, and if you measure the other way – using “static” settings, that head angle sits at 66.6deg.
