I probably should qualify “dissapointing” as I don’t want anyone to think some cocky upstart from Walsden is dissing Cinelli. Who I love. And whose 150mm road stems are “the only ones safe to use”, well, according to John Stevenson, a long, long time ago.
In some ways I really like this seat cluster. But Bikerumor’s idea that this is something new (it’s not) is quite disappointing. The spattery welding (chrome is unforgiving) is disappointing). The HUGE price tag is disappointing.
Stainless steel just seem a really expensive way of making frames, and quite what the benefit over very proven solutions is puzzling. Everyone like a trier, but stainless works great for spokes.
Well done for trying Cinelli, but it’s not any band wagon I’ll be dashing to get on.
I agree with you 100%. Cinelli are a brand riding on a big name and slice of cycling history.
If I’d have made welds like that as an apprentice I would have been thrashed. There you go, don’t buy it just because of the name, it doesn’t always equal quality.
good looking bike but did i miss read it ? where was chrome mentioned and why would you chrome plate stainless? //
not sure about the seat clamp is it not better NOT to try and bend big bits of metal and move the pinch bolt closer to the slit to make it more effecient
what is the realative stiffness ‘ strengths ,and weights of stainless steel (depends on grades i expect) and titanium,,, i dont remember many parts in f1 made from stainless,, even the exhausts were made from iconel ( this may be a stainless alloy )
i love the badge,,,, i have just etched some brass plates like that for my vintage car,,,,
